Prof. Dr. Meera Agnihotri is a highly accomplished doctor in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Here are some of her notable roles and achievements:

Academic Achievements:
Academic Excellence: She excelled in her medical entrance exam on her first attempt and was awarded a merit scholarship. This achievement allowed her to join the prestigious King George Medical University College in Lucknow, one of the top medical institutions in India. She completed her graduation and post-graduation from this university.
Awards and Honors: Throughout her academic journey, she received numerous awards, certificates of honors, and Gold/Silver Medals. These include prestigious Burridge, Tikkoo, Stott, and the Chancellor’s Gold Medal.
Professional Career: In 1972, she started her professional career as a consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist and also joined the teaching faculty as a Lecturer. Over the years, she progressed through the ranks to become an Assistant, then Associate Professor, and eventually the Professor and Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur.
Chairman of Research and Ethics Committee: She served as the Chairman of Research/Ethics, where she guided and co-guided approximately 200 research theses at her own and other universities. This role involves overseeing the research process, ensuring ethical standards are met, and providing guidance and support to researchers.

Professional Roles: She served as the Professor and Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at GSVM Medical College in Kanpur. She held the position of Chairman of Ethics & Research at the State Medical College. She is the President of the WWW Foundation. She serves as an Adviser for the Women Health Cell at the Ministry of Health, Government of India.

Initiatives and Contributions: She launched the “SHAPATH 1000” for National Health Program on January 24, 2021. She organized the International WWWCON, which was inaugurated by the President of India & Union Health Minister. She led a collaborative group of 13 organizations, supporting FOGSI’s Position Statement to the Ministry of Health, Government of India for Covid Vaccination to Lactating & Pregnant Women.

International Representation:
9th International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology (F.I.G.O.) Conference: In 1993, she represented India as the national chairperson of the AIDS committee at the 9th F.I.G.O. conference held in Montreal, Canada. She presented research on HIV in tropical countries, which was recognized at the event.
Visiting Consultant at Bailor College of Medicine: In 1983, she served as a visiting consultant at the Department of Gynaecology at Bailor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, USA.
World Conference on HIV/AIDS at AIIMS: On December 1, 1992, she represented as the Chairperson of the AIDS Committee in the World Conference on HIV/AIDS at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). This was followed by participation in the World Health Organization (WHO) working committee with the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO).
12th World Congress & 20th Indian Conference of NARCHI: From November 7th to 9th, 2014, she attended the 12th World Congress and the 20th Indian Conference of the National Association of Reproductive and Child Health of India (NARCHI).

National Representations:
XXXIXth AICOG - All India Congress of Obstetrics & Gynecology National Conference : She served as the Organizing Secretary for this prestigious conference, which was held at GSVM Medical College in Kanpur. This was the first time in four decades that the conference was bestowed to the state of Uttar Pradesh.
National Conference of Obstetrics & Gynecology Basics to Recent - 2015 : She served as the Organizing Chairperson for this national conference in 2015.
FOGSI – AIDS Committee : She served as the National Chair Person for the AIDS Committee of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) for five years until 2008.
ICOG (Indian College of Obstetrics & Gynecology) : She has been a Founder Fellow of ICOG since 1987. They were also elected as a Governing Council Executive Member of ICOG.
Editorial Panel of The Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, India : She was nominated to the Editorial Panel of this journal for five years.
Editorial Panel of “Asian Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology” : She was also nominated to the Editorial Panel of this journal.
Advisory Board in Govt. of India Medical Health Services : She was invited to the advisory board for accelerating access to family planning services in India. The meeting was held at Le Meridien Hotel, New Delhi on April 5, 2017.

Life Time Achievement Awards:
Padamshri Prof. Raj Baweja Life Time Achievement Award: She received this prestigious award at the National Conference of Obstetrics & Gynecology, which was held at Chandra Shekhar Azad University in Kanpur on November 28, 2015.
Life Time Achievement Award at National Conference of Obstetrics & Gynaecology: This award was jointly given by the President of FOGSI, the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, the Vice Chancellor of CSJM University, the President of FOGSI, and the noted actress Mrs. Poonam Dhillon. The conference was held at GSVM Medical College in Kanpur.
FOGSI Star Award: She received this award at the All India Congress of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (AICOG) in 2016.
Teacher of Teachers Award: This award was given to She at the International Gems meet. The award was presented by Cabinet Minister Sushma Swaraj, who were the chief guest, and the Vice Chancellor, and were the guest of honour. The event was also attended by Dr. Harshvardhan, who were then currently a Cabinet Minister in the Government of India.

ISAR Conference Felicitation: She was felicitated and honored with a shawl and memento by the President of ISAR and the Secretary-General of FOGSI at the ISAR conference held in Delhi on July 23-24, 2016. The felicitation included Prof. Meera Agnihotri, Padmshri Prof. Baveja, Malvika Sabbarwal, and Usha Sharma.
FOGSI SAVMA National Conference Felicitation She was felicitated at the national conference of FOGSI SAVMA held at Medical College, Allahabad from October 21-23, 2016.
FOGSI BOH Trilogy National Conference Felicitation: Prof. Meera Agnihotri and Prof. Chandrawati were felicitated at the National Conference of FOGSI, BOH Trilogy at the inaugural function by the Chief Guest, President, and Secretary-General of the National Body.
Teacher’s Day Felicitation: She was felicitated by Shri Murli Manohar Joshi, Cabinet Minister, on Teacher’s Day under the aegis of the Indian Medical Association for their dedicated services as Medical Teachers.
FOGSI AIDS Committee Felicitation: As the National Chairperson of the FOGSI AIDS Committee, She was felicitated by the Rotary Governor of Punjab at Pathan Koth, Punjab for HIV/AIDS awareness on August 22, 1992.
FOGSI Appreciation National Award: She received the FOGSI appreciation national award for Nari Swasthya Pahal on April 5, 2017. The award was presented by the state minister of health in the Government of India, M.P. Poonam Mahajan, Poonam Dhillon, the IMA President, and the FOGSI President.
12th World Congress & 20th Indian Conference of NARCHI: She attended the 12th World Congress and the 20th Indian Conference of the National Association of Reproductive and Child Health of India (NARCHI) from November 7-9, 2014 in Lucknow.

Felicitations and Awards at State Level:
Felicitation as State President of FOGSI: She was felicitated for their dedicated medical services to the state by the Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University at Varanasi in the UPCOG 2012 conference.
Certificate of Appreciation: She received a certificate of appreciation for their role as the organizing chairperson of the UPCOG 2015 conference.
State Awards: She received a shield and certificate of honor for strengthening the UPCOG at a state conference held in Aligarh.
Dr. Meera Agnihotri Oration: She introduced the Dr. Meera Agnihotri oration at the state conference, which is held every year.
Meera Agnihotri Hall: She was honored by the organizing committee of ISAR, ISPAT, HUP at a conference held in Delhi in 2016 by naming a hall for academic activities after them.
Advisory Board Membership: She served on the advisory board of a state meeting aimed at accelerating access to family planning services under the aegis of the State Government, SIFPSA, and FOGSI.
Sahara Samman:She was awarded the Sahara Samman by the Sahara Foundation and the State Minister of Health at Lucknow.

Nirbhaya Kabtak Felicitation: She was the chief guest at a felicitation event organized by the teacher association of Kanpur, Lion club, All India Women Conference, and the National Organization of Women Family Welfare.
Bharat Ratna Dr. B.C. Roy Medal: She received a certificate of honor and a gold medal for meritorious medical services and exemplary social services to society. This award was presented by the Vice Chancellor of CSJM University, Kanpur on Doctor’s Day, July 1, 2015.

Recent Honours & Awards (2019-2020):
Corona Warrior Award: In July 2021, she received the Corona Warrior Award from the IHW Council. The award was presented by the Honorable Minister of Social Justice, Government of India.
FICCI FLO Award: In March 2021, she was awarded the FICCI FLO Award for her Community Health Service during the Covid pandemic.
Asian Education Award: In April 2021, she received the Asian Education Award for being the Best Medical Teacher.
FOGSI Focus Award: She was awarded the Best FOGSI Focus Award at the 63rd AICOG 2020 (FOGSI).
Women Empowerment Award: She received the Women Empowerment Award at the 62nd AICOG 2019 (FOGSI) & Empowerment Summit 2019 in Delhi.
Life Time Achievement Award: In June 2019, she was honored with the Life Time Achievement Award by FOGSI – OGSH in Hyderabad and ICES in December 2019.
Teacher of Teachers Samaan ISPAT 2018: In Delhi, she received the Teacher of Teachers Samaan ISPAT 2018 and the Best Teacher Award given by Mrs. Shushma Swaraj.
Nari Shakti Samman and Nari Tu Narayani Samman: She was honored with the Nari Shakti Samman by the State Government and the Nari Tu Narayani Samman.

Books & Publication:
Academic Presentations: She has been involved in approximately 300 academic activities, including paper/poster presentations, lectures, panel discussions, guest lectures, keynote addresses, and orations at various conferences, workshops, and meetings over the last three decades.
Chairing Scientific Activities: She has chaired and co-chaired more than 1000 scientific activities at district, state, national, and international conferences. They have also guided more than 300 research theses of MD/MS students.
Chairperson of the Ethics Committee: After retiring from the position of Head of Department at a Medical College, She served as the Chairperson of the Ethics Committee at the same college for approximately 10 years. During this time, they evaluated an average of 20 to 25 research works per month.
Evaluation of Research: She has evaluated research conducted by a medical college in association with institutes like IIT, HBTI, and others. They have also evaluated projects of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and various drug trials.
Fellow Guide at ICMCH: As a Fellow guide at the Indian College of Maternal Child Health (ICMCH), She has guided students for the Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Dip GO) for two years and the Diploma in Family Welfare (DFW) for one year.
Trainer to Health Care Workers: She has served as a trainer to health care workers posted under them by the Ministry of Human Resources, extending their services for the last 20 years.
Professional and Personal Passion: She expresses that learning and teaching medical education, along with treating and extending patient care, is their profession. However, extending social services from “womb to tomb” is their passion.
